Juventus confirm Kolo Muani remains available after successful hand surgery
Kolo Muani back in contention immediately after surgery
Juventus have confirmed that Randal Kolo Muani will remain available for selection after the forward underwent surgery on a fractured finger in his right hand — meaning the Bianconeri face no spell on the sidelines for their in-form attacker.
Kolo Muani played 89 minutes on Saturday as Juve returned to winning ways in Serie A, beating Atalanta 2-0 at the Allianz Stadium. Remarkably, he played on despite sustaining the injury to his hand during the match, and while the issue ultimately required an operation, reports in Italy indicated he would return to training with the club within just a couple of days.
Club statement confirms successful operation
A statement released on Juventus' website detailed the extent of the injury and the procedure:
"During the first half of Sunday's match against Atalanta, Randal Kolo Muani sustained an injury to the fifth finger of his right hand. Tests carried out after the match revealed a fracture of the proximal phalanx, making osteosynthesis surgery necessary. The operation, performed this afternoon by Dr Loris Pegoli, was completely successful and the player will remain available for selection."
Key man in Juve's strong start to the season
The 26-year-old has been a fixture in the Juventus side so far this campaign, appearing in all six of the Bianconeri's matches in all competitions, starting five of those while recording one goal and two assists across 468 minutes of action.
With no international duty to worry about — Kolo Muani was not selected in Zinedine Zidane's first France squad ahead of their Nations League fixtures against Turkiye, Belgium and Italy — the former Paris Saint-Germain man will continue training with his club as Juventus prepare to face Cagliari on October 11.
For a player who could so easily have been looking at weeks on the treatment table, the prognosis is about as good as Juventus could have hoped for: surgery done, fracture fixed, and a starting spot very much still his to lose.
