F1 CEO Domenicali Discusses Apple Partnership and Future Vision at Apple TV Press Day

Stefano Domenicali at Apple TV press day discussing F1 partnership

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, has detailed the new partnership between F1 and Apple during an appearance at the Apple TV press day in Los Angeles, following the October announcement that Apple would become the sport's exclusive US broadcast partner from 2026.

The Partnership Announcement

The partnership news comes on the heels of the successful release of "F1 The Movie," the Apple Original Film that was released internationally in cinemas and IMAX venues in June and made its global streaming debut on Apple TV in December. The film has since received four nominations at the upcoming Academy Awards (Oscars) under the 'Best Picture', 'Visual Effects', 'Sound', and 'Film Editing' categories.

Conversation with Apple's Eddy Cue

In conversation with Eddy Cue, Apple's Senior Vice President of Services, Domenicali discussed various topics including the making of F1 The Movie, the excitement of the 2026 regulations, and the vision for the sport going forward.

Domenicali expressed his hope that the "great partnership" between Formula 1 and Apple will "launch our sport through Apple TV for our American fans."

"That's a beautiful opportunity that we're going to do with passion, with determination, because we are resilient," he continued. "I always said to Eddy, we have a dream that is more than a dream – it's an obligation to our fans to develop the sport, to make sure that F1 is becoming a part of the culture here in the United States."

"It's very respectful of what you love in terms of sports and business, but our dream would be, one day, not only waking up to follow the Super Bowl or NBA or MLS, but also F1. That's what we're going to do together."

Broadcast Details and Content Distribution

The new broadcast agreement will see Apple TV host all Free Practice, Qualifying, Sprint sessions, and Grands Prix. Select races and all Free Practice sessions throughout the season will also be available to watch for free in the Apple TV app.

In addition to showing F1 on Apple TV, Apple will amplify the sport across multiple platforms including Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, Apple Sports, and Apple Fitness+.

F1 TV Premium Integration

F1 TV Premium, F1's own premier content offering, will continue to be available in the US via an Apple TV subscription only and will be free for those who subscribe through the platform.

Strategic Vision for US Market

Domenicali's appearance underscores Formula 1's strategic push to establish itself as a mainstream sport in the United States, building on the momentum created by the success of F1 The Movie and the growing American fanbase that has developed in recent years.

The partnership represents a significant expansion of Formula 1's digital and broadcast presence, leveraging Apple's massive ecosystem to reach new audiences and enhance the viewing experience for existing fans.
