Leicestershire will be without Nick Kelly for their decisive final County Championship match against Warwickshire after the batter suffered a rib injury.

The 33-year-old was hurt during Leicestershire’s victory over Hampshire last week, when his second-innings 86 helped keep the Foxes’ fight against relegation alive. Although injured, Kelly went on to play in Sunday’s One-Day Cup final against Middlesex at Trent Bridge, top-scoring with 103 as Leicestershire were beaten.

The injury has now ended Kelly’s campaign on the eve of Leicestershire’s must-win trip to Edgbaston, where Warwickshire are pursuing the County Championship title. Kelly has scored 405 runs in eight Championship appearances this season.
