Formula 1's European summer swing continues with the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix this weekend, live on Sky Sports
After world championship leader Kimi Antonelli continued his stunning run of form to take a fifth successive victory in Monaco on Sunday, the season now heads to Spain for one of the key dates on the sport's calendar. The fact that teams generally bring significant upgrades to the circuit creates great anticipation, while the classic layout in the hills of Montmelo ensures fans flock from Barcelona to enjoy the event.

Lewis Hamilton will be continuing his search for a first grand prix win in Ferrari red after successive second places, but perhaps the most crucial element of the weekend will be whether George Russell can arrest his slide in form. The pre-season title favourite has dropped behind Hamilton to third in the drivers' standings and desperately needs to start reducing a 68-point deficit to his Mercedes team-mate Antonelli.
Meanwhile, Lando Norris and Max Verstappen will be looking to bounce back from technical failures that resulted in each of them retiring in Monaco, with their respective McLaren and Red Bull teams yet to establish the level of consistency expected from them.
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya track
Traditionally, having a quick car at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya puts you in good stead for the remainder of the season given there are two long straights and a mixture of corner speeds. The long-radius turns really test the aerodynamics of a car and the return to the old layout in 2023 has increased overtaking on the main straight as the cars blast through the last two corners at high speed.
Barcelona weather for F1 race
No rain is forecast for the three days of track action with plenty of sunny spells and an air temperature of 29C for Qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday.
