With four penalties across three race weekends, the seven-time world champion now trails Kimi Antonelli by 50 points in the Drivers' Championship.

British Grand Prix - False Start Penalty

Hamilton received a five-second time penalty for jumping the start at Silverstone, finishing third despite knocking down his pit mechanic during a late stop. He argued the penalty was harsh, stating: "We discussed that as long as you're not moving when the last lights are on, you shouldn't be penalised."

Belgian Grand Prix - Collision with George Russell

In Spa-Francorchamps, Hamilton was penalized for colliding with teammate George Russell. While Russell called it a "racing incident," Hamilton admitted the penalty cost him podium potential. "That cost me a lot of points," he said, noting he could have challenged for victory had he not been penalized.

Hungarian Grand Prix - Qualifying Impeding and Pit Lane Speeding

Hamilton faced two penalties in Budapest: a three-grid position drop for impeding Oscar Piastri in qualifying and a further penalty for speeding in the pit lane during the race. "That was really just unfortunate," he said of the Piastri incident, which cost him track position in a race where Ferrari showed strong pace.

Championship Implications

The cumulative effect of these penalties has left Hamilton 50 points behind Antonelli. "I'll work hard to try and come back," Hamilton said ahead of the summer break. "I'm going to try and make sure I don't give them any reason to penalise me." The Dutch Grand Prix, featuring a Sprint format, will be his next opportunity to close the gap.
