NYCFC draw with Atlanta as Ojeda tees up Perea
NYCFC hold Atlanta for 2-2 draw before international break
New York City FC signed off for the extended international break with a 2-2 draw against Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, despite taking the lead twice.
Matt Edwards’ own goal gave NYCFC an early advantage, before Giuliano Galoppo equalised for Atlanta. Andres Perea restored the Pigeons’ lead early in the second half after being teed up by Agustin Ojeda.
Jay Fortune came off the bench to score a 74th-minute equaliser, leaving NYCFC ninth in the Eastern Conference ahead of this weekend’s clash with the Chicago Fire.
The result extended a difficult run for Pascal Jansen’s side, who have won just one of their last 10 MLS matches, a 2-0 victory away to Real Salt Lake.
