Bundesliga breaks goalscoring record with 35-goal Matchday 5

Bundesliga goal glut breaks long-standing record

If there is one thing the Bundesliga has not been short of so far this season, it is goals. The most recent matchday delivered another flurry, with plenty of drama, shocks and stunning individual displays to match.

Matchday 5 provided another 35 goals, with RB Leipzig’s emphatic 6-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen’s thrilling 4-3 win against Mainz among the standout results.

Such has been the volume of goals scored since the opening weekend of the season, that a long-standing record has - finally - been broken.

The Bundesliga now leads Europe’s top five leagues for goalscoring after the first five matchdays.
