Dortmund rule out Nmecha sale unless 'astronomical sums' offered

Dortmund Stand Firm on Nmecha

Borussia Dortmund have made their position clear regarding midfielder Felix Nmecha's future, with sporting director Ole Book insisting the 25-year-old is not for sale unless an extraordinary offer arrives.

Speaking to Ruhr Nachrichten, Book stated: "I would consider a transfer extremely unlikely. Of course, astronomical sums can theoretically always be involved, but I can pretty much rule that out for Felix Nmecha this summer."

Premier League Interest

Despite Dortmund's firm stance, reports have emerged linking Nmecha with moves to England. Newcastle United are reportedly interested in the midfielder as a potential replacement for Bruno Guimaraes, who is set to join Arsenal.

Manchester United have also been connected with a move for the German international, though Dortmund are said to be demanding €120m for his services - a figure that aligns with Book's comments about requiring "astronomical sums".

Impressive Season and World Cup Display

Nmecha's stock has risen significantly following a strong campaign for Dortmund last season. The midfielder scored six goals and provided three assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

His statistical output was particularly impressive among Dortmund's midfield contingent. Nmecha led the way for successful passes (1,390) and duels won (162), while only Jobe Bellingham (47) recorded more interceptions than his 37.

The 25-year-old further enhanced his reputation with standout performances at this summer's World Cup for Germany. He scored the opening goal in their 7-1 rout over Curacao and assisted the winner against Ivory Coast, which secured Germany's place in the knockout rounds.

Although Germany suffered a surprise last-32 exit at the hands of Paraguay, Nmecha was widely hailed as one of their few strong performers at the tournament.

Pre-Season Preparations

Nmecha has joined Dortmund's pre-season camp in Japan, featuring in their 1-0 win over Tokyo FC last week. The club have two more friendlies remaining against Arsenal and Roma before the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on August 22, when they face Bayern Munich.

His participation in pre-season activities suggests he remains fully integrated with the squad as Dortmund prepare for the upcoming campaign.
