Growing up in war

Afghanistan's star all-rounder Rashid Khan has spoken movingly about his childhood in war-torn Afghanistan, delivering a line that cuts to the heart of cricket's meaning in his country.

“A ball won't kill you, but bullets can,” Rashid Khan said, reflecting on the realities of growing up amid conflict.

Home away from home

Cricket, meanwhile, continues to give Afghanistan a stage. The side will host Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in the UAE for a multi-format home season, keeping their international fixtures alive despite the turmoil at home.
