Goals from Milos Lukovic and Semih Sahin sealed the win for the hosts. Youngsters Ibrahim Kanate and Lukovic combined for the opening goal around the half-hour mark. The Serbian striker had waited until matchday 8 for his competitive debut and made it worthwhile with a composed finish.

With captain Marlon Ritter on the substitute bench, Sahin sealed the win from the penalty spot 15 minutes from time after former Arsenal youngster Charlie Patino was adjudged to foul Jan, the brother of Nico Elvedi. Timo Horn got a hand to Sahin’s effort but could not keep it out as Kaiserslautern scored their eighth goal of the season.

Despite their shyness in front of goal, Torsten Lieberknecht’s side are yet to concede a goal in front of their supporters this campaign. Bochum have only found the net five times in their first eight games.
