Richard Kenyon to lead Lancashire cricket review after dismal 2025 season

Kenyon arrives as Lancashire seek turnaround

Incoming chief executive Richard Kenyon is to lead a review of Lancashire’s cricket operation and performance structure after a poor 2025 campaign.

Kenyon, who spent more than a decade at Everton and has just completed a 10-month spell as Nottinghamshire chief executive, will officially take over from Daniel Gidney on 5 October.

Review follows restructure

The review will build on last week’s restructure which confirmed the departure of director of cricket performance Mark Chilton and director of women’s cricket David Thorley.

It will assess Lancashire’s “performance environment”, including staff and player contracts, resources, and the pathway from academy to first team.

Season in review

Lancashire finished second-bottom of Division Two in the County Championship with two wins from 14 matches, bottom of the T20 Blast table, and failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the One-Day Cup.

"Richard’s arrival comes at an important moment for the club," club chairperson Dame Sarah Storey told the club website. "Among other items, as Lancashire Cricket’s new CEO, he will need to take a clear and objective look at our performance operation and what needs to change to improve results, particularly for our men’s side."

Storey added: "Everyone associated with Lancashire Cricket has high ambitions for our professional teams. We must now take stock of what is needed to enable the teams to deliver across all formats, guided by the club’s recently published Cricket Vision."
