Hull City smash transfer record to land goalkeeper Tzolakis from Olympiacos

Hull City have continued to bolster their squad ahead of their Premier League return with the marquee signing of goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis for a club-record fee.

Konstantinos Tzolakis signs for Hull City

The 23-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Tigers, who agreed a reported £20m (€23.3m) fee plus add-ons with Greek champions Olympiacos. Tzolakis made 131 appearances for Olympiacos — the only club he has represented during his senior career — and won eight trophies during his time in Greece.

Most notably, Tzolakis was part of the Olympiacos side that lifted the 2023-24 UEFA Conference League title. He also made nine Champions League appearances last season and kept 35 clean sheets in the Greek Super League across the last two campaigns — five more than any other goalkeeper in the division.

'A big honour to join Hull City'

Speaking to the club website, the Greece international expressed his excitement about the move and his readiness for a new challenge.

"I am very happy to be here. It's a big honour to join Hull City. I am ready for a new chapter in my career," Tzolakis said.

"I met all the players and staff in Turkiye, and I thank them for the warm welcome.

"With Olympiacos, I had a successful career with a Conference League title, a championship and a cup, also European games and the Champions League. Hull City is something different because we are playing in the Premier League. We have to fight against top players, so it's a challenge for me."

"I feel ready. I will give everything I have every single day in training to help our team to achieve its goals. I know Hull have passionate supporters, so I can't wait to play for them."

Tough start to Premier League life

Hull will begin the 2026-27 Premier League season at home against Manchester United on August 22 before travelling to Coventry City on matchday two. The Tigers will also face Aston Villa, Chelsea and Newcastle United in their first five league games — a daunting opening stretch that will test Tzolakis and his new teammates against some of the division's most formidable attacking talent.
