England all-rounder Dani Gibson signs new Somerset contract until 2028
Gibson commits her future to Somerset
England all-rounder Dani Gibson has signed a new contract to stay with Somerset until the end of the 2028 season, committing her long-term future to the West Country club.
The 25-year-old featured at this summer's T20 World Cup for England and has become an increasingly important figure in Somerset's set-up, despite her international commitments limiting her club availability.
Modest club record, growing influence
Gibson has played eight matches for Somerset across the past two campaigns, scoring 262 runs with a highest score of 77. While those figures may appear modest on paper, the club clearly value the experience and quality the all-rounder brings to the dressing room.
Her international pedigree is equally clear: Gibson has represented England in six One-Day Internationals and 35 T20 Internationals, amassing 722 runs and taking 21 wickets across the two formats.
Osborne: experience "you just can't buy"
Somerset head coach Erin Osborne was full of praise for the signing and underlined just how highly the all-rounder is regarded within the club.
"Any opportunity that we have to get Dani back into our environment is always a positive one," Osborne said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which you just can't buy."
Osborne also highlighted the value Gibson will add to Somerset's emerging generation of players, adding: "We've got a really young group, so any chance they get to spend time around players like Dani and learn from her is a really good one."
Long-term stability for club and country hopeful
With the deal running until the end of the 2028 season, both Gibson and Somerset have secured long-term certainty. For the club, it means continued access to an established England international in a young squad; for Gibson, it provides a stable home base as she looks to build on an England career that already includes a T20 World Cup appearance this summer.
