Real Sociedad join race for Barça right-back

Real Sociedad have made contact with La Liga rivals Barcelona over a potential deal for defender Héctor Fort, according to reports in Spain.

The brass at Anoeta have touched base with their counterparts at the Spotify Camp Nou regarding a move for the young right-back ahead of the new season.

Fort expected to leave Barcelona

Fort, 20, is now widely expected to depart Barcelona before the summer transfer window closes. After evidently not doing enough to convince Hansi Flick of his talents during a loan spell with Elche last season, the full-back has been identified as dispensable by sporting director Deco and his team of directors.

A whole host of clubs from across Spain and Europe are understood to have expressed an interest in bringing Fort in.

New suitor emerges

This week the identity of a new suitor has been revealed in the Spanish media. Transfer market journalist Matteo Moretto reports: ‘Real Sociedad have also inquired about Héctor Fort.’

The interest comes as Real Sociedad look to strengthen their defensive ranks ahead of the new campaign, while Barcelona aim to trim their squad of players deemed surplus to requirements.
