Joao Felix has revealed that he hopes to assist Cristiano Ronaldo’s 1,000th career goal, a milestone that is rapidly coming into view for the Al-Nassr and Portugal forward.

Ronaldo moved to 979 goals for club and country after scoring in Al-Nassr’s victory over Abha earlier this month. With 21 goals still required to reach four figures, Felix said he would actively look for his team-mate if Ronaldo moves within one goal of the landmark.

“When he’s one goal away, every time I get the ball I’ll look for him to see if I can give him the pass,” Joao Felix told Diario AS.

“That goal will go down in soccer history, and being part of it would be a great moment.”

Felix reflects on sharing Al-Nassr success with Ronaldo

Felix plays alongside Ronaldo for both Al-Nassr and Portugal. The former Chelsea forward enjoyed an outstanding debut season in Saudi Arabia, scoring 20 goals and supplying 13 assists as Al-Nassr ended a seven-year wait for the Saudi Pro League title.

His performances earned him the league’s player of the season award, while the title had particular significance because it fulfilled a long-standing ambition for Ronaldo since his arrival in Saudi Arabia.

“We grew up watching Cristiano. He was our idol, someone we looked up to, and now I get to share these moments with him,” Felix said.

Ronaldo, 41, has hinted that his international career could end by the conclusion of the season, while his club future beyond the 2026-27 campaign remains uncertain. Felix acknowledged that the current period will not last indefinitely, but said those around Ronaldo intend to make the most of it.

“We have to enjoy it as much as we can because we know it won’t last forever. But while he’s here, we’ll be here too,” he said.
