Shree Charani and Deepti Sharma Hold Top Two as Nandani Sharma Jumps 26 Places in ICC T20I Bowling Rankings
India's Spinners Stay on Top as Pace Duo Surges
India's grip on the ICC Women's T20I Bowling Rankings remains firmly intact, with Shree Charani and Deepti Sharma retaining the top two positions in the latest update. The pair delivered economical performances in the ongoing home series against Zimbabwe, keeping them at the summit of the shortest format's bowling charts.
Charani continues to lead the T20I bowling rankings, with the experienced all-rounder Deepti occupying second place. Their continued presence at the top underlines India's strength in the format, where spin has remained a central pillar of the bowling attack.
The latest update also highlights the growing contribution of India's pace options. India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series at home, with their bowlers playing a key role in the campaign, and the rankings reflect the depth of those resources.
Nandani Sharma and Kranti Gaud Rewarded for Raipur Efforts
Fast bowler Nandani Sharma emerged as one of the biggest movers, climbing 26 places to 45th in the T20I bowling rankings. The right-arm seamer has claimed three wickets across the first two matches in Raipur, making her one of the joint-leading wicket-takers in the series.
Teammate Kranti Gaud also made progress, moving up nine places to 43rd.
"Nandani's 26-place jump and Kranti's rise of nine positions show how the performances of the supporting bowlers are strengthening the team's resources ahead of future international assignments," the latest rankings update noted, pointing to India's expanding pool of options.
Trans-Tasman Series Shakes Up Rankings
There were also notable changes following the opening match of the trans-Tasman series between Australia and New Zealand in Sydney. Australia seamer Annabel Sutherland climbed one place to eighth among T20I bowlers, while New Zealand's Jess Kerr rose five spots to 17th.
Kerr's teammates also improved, with Bree Illing moving up six places to 23rd and Nensi Patel rising five places to 35th.
New Zealand's batters made gains of their own. Maddy Green climbed three places to 34th, while Georgia Plimmer made a significant 13-place jump to 48th. Australia's Beth Mooney, meanwhile, retained her position as the world's top-ranked T20I batter.
Australian Veterans Advance in ODI Charts
The latest update also brought gains for Australian players in the ODI rankings following their 50-over series against Bangladesh in the ICC Women's Championship.
Veteran fast bowler Megan Schutt moved up one place to fourth in the ODI bowling rankings. Ellyse Perry climbed one spot to ninth among ODI batters and made an even bigger jump in the all-rounders' list, rising 14 places to 25th.
Sutherland also benefited from her unbeaten half-century in the final ODI, moving up four places to 13th in the batting rankings. Bangladesh batter Sharmin Akhter Supta climbed five places to 25th.
What It Means
For India, the story of the latest rankings cycle is breadth as much as brilliance. Charani and Deepti remain the headline acts, but the rapid rise of Nandani and Kranti suggests the team's pace battery is developing in step with its vaunted spin department — a promising sign as India look ahead to future international assignments.
