Laimer Vows Bayern Munich Will Improve Again in Title Defence

Bayern Munich Ready to Raise the Bar Again

Konrad Laimer has declared that Bayern Munich are determined to improve even further in the 2026-27 season as they chase an unprecedented third straight Bundesliga title under manager Vincent Kompany.

The Austrian midfielder, who recently committed his future to the club with a new contract running through 2029, believes the Bavarian giants have not yet reached their ceiling despite their domestic dominance over the past two seasons.

"We Can and Want to Do Even Better"

Speaking to reporters ahead of the new campaign, Laimer emphasized the squad's hunger for continued improvement as they enter Kompany's third year in charge.

"We're now entering our third year, and we can still play better football, all of us together," Laimer said. "We want to start the season with that mindset. Last season was good, but we can and want to do even better."

Bayern Munich lifted the Bundesliga trophy in each of the last two seasons under Kompany, having failed to win the league in only one of the previous 14 campaigns. Their dominance last season was particularly emphatic, losing just one match while scoring 122 goals and conceding only 36.

Treble Ambitions After Domestic Success

The club also secured the DFB-Pokal in May for the first time since 2020, along with the DFL-Supercup. However, European glory continues to elude them, with Paris Saint-Germain knocking them out in the Champions League semi-finals in 2025-26.

Laimer highlighted the winning culture at Bayern as a driving force for the squad. "You can really feel every single day here, when you're training and surrounded by this environment, the desire that at FC Bayern you want to win every single title," he explained. "That's what makes it all so special. We're going for it all again."

Season Opener Against Dortmund

Bayern will begin their 2026-27 campaign with the DFL-Supercup against rivals Borussia Dortmund on August 22, before opening their Bundesliga title defence at home against Stuttgart the following week.

With Kompany's side once again installed as favourites to lift the Bundesliga trophy, Laimer's comments serve as a warning to their competitors that Bayern have no intention of resting on their laurels.
