Najmul Hossain Declines Test Captaincy, BCB Eyes Litton Das
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been unable to persuade former national captain Najmul Hossain to reconsider his decision to step down as Test captain. Najmul, who had already relinquished the ODI captaincy, has made it clear that he is unwilling to lead the Test side at this time.

According to sources within the BCB, Najmul reiterated his decision during a conversation with cricket operation chairman Nazmul Abedin after the third ODI between Bangladesh and West Indies. "He (Najmul) is not interested to lead at the moment and informed us about his decision," a BCB official stated.
With the Test captaincy vacant following the conclusion of the series against Sri Lanka, the BCB is reportedly considering current T20I skipper Litton Kumar Das as a potential successor. A two-match Test series against Ireland is scheduled to begin on November 11 in Sylhet, and the board is awaiting Litton's consent before making an official announcement.
Current ODI captain Mehidy Hasan, who had earlier expressed interest in taking over the Test captaincy, is unlikely to be offered the role. Under his leadership, Bangladesh has won only three out of 13 ODI matches, drawing criticism from fans and analysts alike.
BCB president Aminul Islam indicated that flexibility remains in the decision-making process. "The final call will be made after discussions among the board, selectors, and coaching staff," he said. Other names being considered for the Test captaincy include Taijul Islam, who has publicly voiced his interest, and Mominul Haque, who has expressed his readiness to take on the responsibility if asked.
As the BCB explores options for new leadership, the focus remains on stabilizing the Test squad and preparing for the upcoming series against Ireland.
