MONZA, Italy — Isack Hadjar sidelined for second straight weekend

Isack Hadjar will miss the 2026 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, marking his second consecutive race weekend on the sidelines as he continues to recover from a wrist injury picked up during the summer break.

News of Hadjar's injury first broke ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, the first race back after the summer shutdown. With the Frenchman unavailable, Liam Lawson was promoted from Racing Bulls to fill the vacant Red Bull seat, while Yuki Tsunoda, the team's reserve driver, returned to the grid with Racing Bulls.

Both teams confirmed the same driver line-ups will remain in place for the Italian Grand Prix weekend.

Red Bull cautious over Hadjar return

Red Bull said Hadjar is making “encouraging progress” in his recovery and that it “is closely monitoring his rehabilitation and will take no unnecessary risks with his return to competition and wishes him a speedy recovery.”

Opportunity knocks for Lawson and Tsunoda

With Hadjar still out, the reshuffled order gives Lawson and Tsunoda a platform to stake their claims for a permanent place on the grid.

Lawson finished seventh at the Dutch Grand Prix — a result that looked like the maximum achievable for Red Bull on the day — while Tsunoda brought home 11th for Racing Bulls, just shy of the points.

Tsunoda's main goal remains a full-time return to Formula 1, though he admitted during media day at Zandvoort that he “doesn't want to not be racing.” He managed to stay close to teammate Arvid Lindblad's times, but Monza's power-sensitive layout will present a fresh challenge in this new regulation era.

Lawson, meanwhile, has been making a strong case during his Racing Bulls chapter and proved solid in the new Red Bull machinery — a stark contrast to the races he contested in Red Bull colours last season.
