Manchester United Secures Fourth Consecutive Win with Dramatic Victory Over Brighton

Manchester United continued their resurgence in the Premier League with a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford, extending their winning run to four consecutive matches. The dramatic win was headlined by a brace from Bryan Mbeumo, whose late strike in the 96th minute ultimately sealed the crucial three points.

First Half Dominance

The Red Devils took an early lead in the 24th minute through Matheus Cunha, who netted his first goal for the club with a well-placed finish. Casemiro doubled United's advantage just ten minutes later, his powerful strike deflecting off Yasin Ayari and leaving Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen with no chance.

Second Half Drama

Despite being two goals down at halftime, Brighton refused to give up. Former United forward Danny Welbeck fired a stunning free-kick into the top corner to reduce the deficit. Charalampos Kostoulas then added a second for Brighton in stoppage time with a header, setting up a nervy final few minutes.

Just as a comeback seemed plausible, Bryan Mbeumo stepped up with his second goal of the match. His 96th-minute strike ensured United walked away with all three points. "I think we played a great game," Mbeumo told Sky Sports. "We are a bit disappointed to concede two goals, but the most important is the win, and in the end, we did it."

Historic Feat and League Standing

The victory marked Manchester United's third consecutive Premier League win, their first such streak since May/August 2024. Additionally, United achieved a rare stat: taking a two-goal lead into halftime for the third straight league game at Old Trafford — a performance not witnessed since November 2008.

The win also continued an interesting trend between the two sides, as their Premier League fixtures have never ended in a draw. United now holds the upper hand with nine wins compared to Brighton's eight. The victory briefly lifted Manchester United to fourth place in the league table, injecting renewed confidence into their campaign.
