Barcelona Duo Nearing Fitness Ahead of El Clásico Clash
Barcelona's assistant manager Marcus Sorg has provided updates on the fitness of Ferran Torres and Jules Koundé ahead of the upcoming El Clásico clash against Real Madrid.
Ferran Torres, who has been sidelined since the October international break due to a muscular issue sustained while playing for the Spanish national team, remains a doubt. Although he was named on the bench for the midweek match against Olympiacos, he did not feature. Sorg stated that a decision on whether Ferran can start in El Clásico will be made on the day of the match, indicating a late fitness test.
Jules Koundé, who had been a doubt for the match after missing training on Thursday and Friday due to fitness concerns, has returned to training. Spotted back on the grass at the Ciutat Esportiva, Koundé trained earlier today. Sorg confirmed the development and added, "We’ll have to see how his body reacts after the session, and if he’s ready to play, of course he’ll play." This suggests that Koundé could feature if he passes a final fitness assessment.
