Messi and his family returned to Argentina after he was informed that his father’s health had deteriorated. Following Jorge Messi’s death, the Inter Miami forward published a lengthy message of thanks and farewell on social media.

Ronaldo responded in the comments section of Messi’s tribute with a brief message of solidarity: A huge hug to you and yours in these tough times, Leo. Much strength.

The gesture came from Messi’s long-time rival, who represented Real Madrid during the pair’s era-defining battles with Barcelona and later clubs. Despite their competition on the pitch, Ronaldo’s message acknowledged the difficult circumstances facing Messi and his family.
