Barcelona agree €12m deal to sell midfielder Tommy Márques to SC Braga

La Liga giants Barcelona have secured a valuable financial boost after reaching an agreement over the permanent transfer of young midfielder Tommy Márques to Portuguese side SC Braga.

The 19-year-old talent had been linked with a departure from Catalonia over recent weeks in search of regular first-team minutes. Having managed two appearances in La Liga for the Blaugrana senior team last season, Márques faced intense competition for places in midfield—especially with sporting director Deco and the club hierarchy exploring high-profile additions in the transfer market.

Transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal, revealing that the Portuguese outfit will pay an initial €10 million fee alongside €2 million in potential add-ons.

Taking to social media to report the breakthrough, Romano stated:

Tommy Márques to SC Braga, here we go! Deal in place for permanent exit of 19 year midfielder from Barcelona. Barça accept €10m plus €2m add-ons; Márques said yes to the proposal despite interest also from two German clubs.”

The move sees the Spanish midfielder link up once again with former Barcelona forward Pau Víctor at Braga. Márques chose the Portuguese side's project despite having concrete proposals on the table from two clubs in the German Bundesliga.

For Barcelona, the €12m total package represents a welcome capital gain as the club continues to balance its financial books and construct the squad for the remainder of the season.
