Lee Kang-in 'really eager' to begin Atletico Madrid chapter after €40m PSG switch

Lee Kang-in Ready to Start Atletico Madrid Adventure

Lee Kang-in has completed his highly-anticipated €40m move from Paris Saint-Germain to Atletico Madrid this summer, though the South Korea international is yet to join his new teammates for pre-season preparations due to administrative complications.

Despite the delayed start, Lee's enthusiasm for his new club remains undiminished. The 23-year-old winger signed a five-year deal with the Spanish giants after a successful spell in Paris.

"I'm Really Eager to Get Started"

Speaking to club media, Lee Kang-in expressed his excitement about the move: "I'm very happy and excited to join this great club. I'm really looking forward to meeting my team-mates, the manager, the entire coaching staff, and the fans. I've been told they're the best in the world."

He added: "I'm really eager and excited to get started; there are only a few days left. Both the club and I were very keen for me to join as soon as possible, but due to some paperwork issues here [in South Korea], it was a shame."

The winger has been maintaining his fitness during the waiting period: "But during these past few weeks, I've tried to train very hard so I can be in the best possible shape when I join the team. Now I belong to this team, and it's going to be something very special for me. I'm really looking forward to it. Go Atleti!"

Impressive PSG Legacy

Lee Kang-in leaves Paris Saint-Germain with an impressive trophy cabinet, having won 12 honors during his time at the club. This includes three Ligue 1 titles and back-to-back Champions League trophies over the past two seasons.

He made history as just the second South Korean player to win the Champions League, following in the footsteps of Park Ji-sung, who lifted the trophy with Manchester United.

Across 124 appearances for PSG, Lee Kang-in recorded 16 goals and 16 assists. The move to Atletico Madrid is expected to provide him with more regular playing time as he looks to establish himself as a key player in Diego Simeone's squad.

Atletico's Pre-Schedule

Atletico Madrid will face Manchester City and Marseille in their final pre-season fixtures before launching their LaLiga campaign on August 19 against Malaga. Lee Kang-in is expected to be available for selection once his administrative issues are resolved.
