Tacchinardi slams Juventus after Lazio defeat: 'I don't see a clear identity' under Spalletti

Tacchinardi slams Juventus after Lazio defeat

Former midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi did not hold back after Juventus were beaten 3-0 at home by Lazio on Sunday evening, suggesting the Bianconeri look no better a year on from Luciano Spalletti's appointment as head coach.

Lazio punish Juventus on their own turf

Juventus were humbled by Gennaro Gattuso's side on Sunday evening, as goals from Oliver Provstgaard, Gustav Isaksen and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru gave the visitors a 3-0 victory. The result leaves Juventus eight points off the league leaders after just seven matches. They are also one point worse off than after seven matches of the 2025-26 season under Igor Tudor.

The defeat has led to calls for Spalletti's removal and pleas for Antonio Conte to return as head coach.

'No identity' and no improvement

Tacchinardi, speaking on punditry duty with Mediasset, was unsparing in his assessment of the performance, claiming there is 'no identity' in the side and no improvement in the year Spalletti has been in charge.

"They were lost, an embarrassing Juve tonight," Tacchinardi said (via Corriere dello Sport). "Despite the fact they played on Thursday, I don't think it's a team that's been overloaded physically or mentally.

"A year after Spalletti's appointment, I don't see a clear identity, I don't see an improved team, so I don't know whether or not the club will be making any evaluations. On its current trend, this team is really negative. It was the ugliest Juve performance under Spalletti's management."

The criticism adds to mounting pressure on Spalletti, who had earlier in the week insisted the Bianconeri were on the right path despite a perceived campaign against them.
