Markus Krösche poised for AC Milan move as Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director exits

Krösche set for Serie A switch after Frankfurt exit

Markus Krösche is set to become AC Milan’s new Head of Football after asking to be released from his role as Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director, according to Kicker.

The 46-year-old’s departure from Frankfurt was confirmed on Sunday evening after he asked to be released from his duties, stating that he “needed a change.” The change is reported to be a move to Serie A with Milan.

Krösche’s exit from Frankfurt follows more than five years in the role. Earlier reporting on 2026-10-18 noted that the supervisory board approved his release with immediate effect at his own request at an extraordinary meeting on Sunday, ending more than five years in the position.

Long-running Milan interest

The move had been rumoured last summer but did not materialise at the time. Milan already had Krösche in their sights last summer, offering him a four-year deal totalling up to €40m.

As stated in Gazzetta dello Sport, discussions never went away; both parties were trying to come to an agreement on the job, its duties and finances. An official agreement with Milan is now expected to be announced this week.

Transfer fee for Frankfurt

Krösche remains under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt until 2028 and would therefore need to be bought out of his current deal. Frankfurt would receive a transfer fee should the move to Milan be completed, though how much Milan are willing to spend is not yet known.
