Barcelona's chaotic summer of striker-hunting has taken yet another twist. Dušan Vlahović has officially joined Turkish giants Beşiktaş J.K., removing one high-profile name from the Catalans' list of options — and, almost in the same breath, intensifying reports linking the club with Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi.

The blaugrana remain in urgent need of a No. 9 following Robert Lewandowski's departure to Chicago Fire, but their pursuit has been marked by dead ends and one-sided interest. Vlahović was the latest casualty; Tresoldi may be the next hope.

Vlahović off the table despite waiting on Barça

The Serbia international, a free agent after leaving Juventus FC, had been repeatedly linked with a move to Camp Nou. According to reports, Vlahović was more than willing to make the switch — even reportedly dropping his salary expectations and waiting beyond his original deadline, hoping Barcelona would make a move.

Barcelona were said to have met with the player's representatives, and there was no word that they ever completely ruled him out. But the proof, as they say, was in the pudding: Vlahović remained a free agent while Barça made no push to sign him. The interest ultimately proved one-sided, and Beşiktaş moved swiftly to secure the forward.

Tresoldi the latest name on an ever-growing list

With Vlahović no longer an option, the rumor mill has immediately coughed up another candidate. Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi — the 21-year-old Germany Under-21 international — is the latest addition to Barcelona's very, very, very long list of targets, with Caught Offside reporting that the Catalans are "accelerating" their interest after making little progress in their bid to land top target Julián Alvarez.

Tresoldi — also reported to be on the radar of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United — is viewed as a decent low-cost option who could be available for around €45-50 million in the final weeks of the transfer window. As Premier League clubs scramble to finalise their squads, he could be one to watch.

Alvarez remains the dream, but Atlético won't budge

None of this changes the reality that Barcelona's No. 1 target remains Julián Alvarez. The problem is a familiar one: Atlético de Madrid have no desire to sell their prized Argentine, and the Catalans have yet to make a definitive move for any alternative despite the endless stream of names linked with the club.

The urgency, meanwhile, is only growing. Barcelona are reported to be on the verge of selling Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain for €50 million — a deal that would leave the squad even thinner in attack and, in the eyes of some observers, require the blaugrana to sign not one but two new strikers.

For now, though, the search continues — with Vlahović gone and Tresoldi the latest to enter the frame.
