Thomas Muller commits to Whitecaps through 2027 MLS Sprint Season
After guiding the Vancouver Whitecaps to their first MLS Cup final in club history last season, Thomas Muller has decided to stay in Canada. The 37-year-old has extended his contract with the Whitecaps through to the end of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, committing him to the 2026 MLS Cup runners-up until June 2027.
His previous deal had been due to expire this December, but the new agreement ensures the veteran forward's influence at BC Place continues well into the club's ambitious push for silverware.

Goals, assists and a historic first final
Since joining as a free agent in the summer of 2025, Muller has been an attacking force for the Whitecaps, registering 19 goals and 12 assists in 45 appearances. Since his arrival, he leads all Vancouver players in direct goal contributions in MLS with 27 — a tally of 16 goals and 11 assists.
His first campaign proved transformative for the club. Vancouver reached the MLS Cup showpiece for the first time in their history, only to fall to Lionel Messi's Inter Miami, while they also lifted the Canadian Championship. This season the Whitecaps sit top of the Western Conference, with Muller named an MLS All-Star earlier in the year.
'Very happy to continue this journey'
Speaking to the club website, Muller made clear that his commitment is driven by more than just results on the pitch.
"I've really enjoyed my time here from the beginning. Vancouver has been very open and welcoming to me, and I've felt that same spirit throughout the club.
"We have an offensive, possession-based style that is fun to play and fun to watch, and you can really feel the excitement around the team and the city right now. The fans are enjoying it, and I think everyone wants to be part of what we are building.
"For me, it's still so much fun to be out on the pitch every week, and I feel good physically.
"I'm very happy to continue this journey with the 'Caps, and I'm looking forward to what we can achieve together this year and next year in the Sprint Season."
With the veteran forward locked in through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, the Whitecaps retain a proven goalscorer as they chase the silverware that eluded them in last season's final.
