Tonali valued at record €90m as Transfermarkt name Italy's most valuable footballer ever
Sandro Tonali has been crowned the most valuable Italian footballer in history after Transfermarkt's latest update pegged the Tottenham Hotspur and Italy midfielder at €90m.

The €90m valuation, effective as of October 2026, is the highest an Italian player has ever commanded on the trusted transfer analysis website. Tonali's previous valuation of €80m had been matched by Inter pair Nicolo Barella and Alessandro Bastoni at various stages, but no Italian footballer aside from Tonali has ever pushed beyond the €80m mark.
From Milan to Newcastle to north London
The 26-year-old became the most expensive Italian footballer of all time when he joined Tottenham from Newcastle in a deal worth €115m including bonuses and add-ons. That move means he is currently both the most expensive and the second-most expensive Italian footballer of all time once his €70m transfer from Milan to Newcastle is factored in.
The rest of the Italian top 10
According to the latest information, Tonali ranks clear at the top at €90m. Inter and Arsenal centre-backs Alessandro Bastoni and Riccardo Calafiori come in joint-second at €65m, while Nicolo Barella, Federico Dimarco and Pio Esposito are all valued at €50m.
Completing the top 10 are Gianluigi Donnarumma (€45m), Marco Palestra (€45m), Michael Kayode (€40m) and Honest Ahanor (€40m).
The valuation underlines Tonali's standing not only as a cornerstone of Roberto Mancini's rebuilt Azzurri project but also as the flagship Italian asset in the global transfer market.
