Troy Parrott in action

Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott has completed a move to LaLiga club Real Betis, joining the Seville side on a five-year contract. Dutch outfit AZ have received a €20m fee for the 24-year-old forward, who has thrived in the Eredivisie over the past two seasons.

Parrott, a former Tottenham Hotspur academy product, signed for AZ in 2024 and quickly established himself as one of the most prolific scorers in Dutch football. He scored 30 Eredivisie goals in 59 appearances, with only Ayase Ueda (33) and Sem Steijn (34) bettering that tally in the Dutch top flight during the same period.

Prolific form across all competitions

Last term, the 24-year-old produced 31 goals and 12 assists in all competitions for AZ, cementing his reputation as a dynamic and reliable goalscorer. He has also grown into a key figure for the Republic of Ireland, netting 11 goals in 37 senior international caps.

Parrott expressed his delight at the switch in a social media post, writing on Instagram: "Very happy to be a part of this huge club, can't wait to get going and to make special memories here."

Champions League football and a date with Real Sociedad

Betis will compete in the Champions League this season after finishing fifth in LaLiga in 2025-26. They open their campaign with a league meeting against Real Sociedad on Friday, with Parrott expected to be thrown into the action as the club prepares for a demanding continental schedule.
