Fort picks Dortmund as preferred destination

Barcelona defender Héctor Fort has reportedly chosen Borussia Dortmund as his preferred destination ahead of an expected summer departure from Camp Nou.

Fort, 20, spent last season on loan at Elche but did not do enough to convince Barcelona that he is ready to take on a prominent first-team role. As a result, the club has made the versatile full-back available for transfer as it looks to raise funds before the transfer deadline.

Several clubs in Spain and elsewhere are understood to have shown interest, but a report from Diario Sport, citing German transfer insider Patrick Berger, claims that Dortmund is Fort’s favoured option.

“Hector Fort’s wish, after being forced to leave Barça, is to play for Borussia Dortmund. He has expressed this to his agents and the club.”

Barcelona are reportedly hopeful of receiving approximately €15 million from Fort’s sale. The move remains dependent on Dortmund—or another interested club—meeting the Catalan side’s valuation and reaching an agreement over personal terms.
