Red Bull confirm Hadjar out of Dutch GP as Lawson steps up and Tsunoda returns to Racing Bulls
Isack Hadjar will not take part in this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix after sustaining a wrist injury during Formula 1's summer shutdown, Red Bull have confirmed.
The Frenchman, who currently sits eighth in the drivers' standings and was on a run of seven consecutive points-scoring Grands Prix, has been ruled out of the season-resuming event at Circuit Zandvoort — where team-mate Max Verstappen will contest his home race.
Lawson promoted, Tsunoda returns
Red Bull have called up Racing Bulls' Liam Lawson to replace Hadjar in the RB22 for the weekend. The New Zealander previously had a brief stint with the senior team for two rounds at the beginning of 2025 before being demoted to the sister outfit, where he has since established himself as a star of the midfield and is the leading scorer among those outside the front-running teams.
Lawson's temporarily vacant seat at Racing Bulls will be filled by Yuki Tsunoda, another former Red Bull racer who lost his full-time drive at the end of last season and was reassigned to the role of test and reserve driver for both operations. Tsunoda will partner rookie Arvid Lindblad at the sister team.
Official statements
In an official statement, Red Bull confirmed the changes:
"Hadjar has sustained a wrist injury during summer shutdown that will prevent him from racing at the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix.
"We will be welcoming back Lawson who will replace him in RB22 this weekend.
"The Team wishes Isack a speedy recovery and thanks Liam for stepping in on short notice."
Ahead of Tsunoda's return to his former team, Racing Bulls separately commented:
"We thank both Liam and Yuki for their adaptability as the teams prepare for the weekend and we wish Isack a speedy recovery."
With the grid reshuffled for Zandvoort, attention now turns to whether Lawson can make an immediate impact alongside Verstappen as the 2026 campaign resumes.
