Mumbai Indians bring Tara Norris back to the WPL
Mumbai Indians have traded USA fast-bowler Tara Norris from UP Warriorz ahead of the WPL 2027 player auction, bringing her across in an all-cash deal for INR 10 lakh—the same fee at which the Warriorz signed her before the 2026 season.

Norris made WPL history with Delhi Capitals in the inaugural 2023 season, becoming the first Associate player to appear in the competition and the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Across five appearances in the 2023 WPL, she claimed seven wickets at an average of 26 and an economy rate of 4.33.
After Delhi released her ahead of the 2024 season, Norris joined UP Warriorz for 2026 but missed that tournament after being called up to the USA squad for the T20 World Cup Qualifiers. The move to Mumbai marks her second association with an MI franchise; she represented MI London in The Hundred earlier this year.
MI fill overseas slot before auction
Norris was retained by UP Warriorz at the September 28 deadline before the trade was completed. Her arrival fills Mumbai’s overseas quota ahead of the auction in Kochi on October 28. MI will enter the auction with INR 90 lakh to spend and a maximum of six roster places to fill.
UP Warriorz, meanwhile, have INR 3.75 crore remaining and can fill up to eight places, including a maximum of three overseas signings.
