BCCI rules out shifting India-Sri Lanka ODI from Delhi to Ahmedabad

BCCI says Delhi will host the series opener

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has rejected reports that the opening ODI of India’s 2026 series against Sri Lanka will be moved from Delhi to Ahmedabad. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the fixture remains assigned to the national capital and that no decision to change venues has been made.

Speculation about a possible switch followed reports of construction work at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium and questions about its readiness for the international match. Saikia dismissed the claims, saying: “Reports suggesting that the India–Sri Lanka ODI match scheduled in Delhi may be shifted to Ahmedabad are not accurate. There has been no such decision by the BCCI.”

He added that bilateral fixtures are allotted under the board’s standard policy. The first ODI is scheduled for December 13, 2026, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, with a 2pm IST start.

Ahmedabad remains the venue for the final ODI

The three-match ODI series is scheduled to continue in Bengaluru on December 16 before concluding at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on December 19. The tour runs from December 13 to December 27 and also includes three T20 internationals: Rajkot on December 22, Cuttack on December 24 and Pune on December 27. Each T20I is scheduled to begin at 7pm IST.
