South Africa arrive in India for multi-format tour as Shubman Gill leads hosts in high-stakes Test series

South Africa are set to face India on Indian soil for a comprehensive multi-format tour comprising Tests, One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), marking their first red-ball tour to the country since October 2019.

High-Stakes Test Battles in Kolkata and Guwahati

The Test series will commence at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 14, before moving to Guwahati for the second Test starting on November 22. Following the conclusion of the World Test Championship series, the two cricketing giants will lock horns in three ODIs and five T20Is, setting up an action-packed schedule for fans.

The Proteas enter the series as reigning World Test Championship winners, eager to erase memories of their previous Test visit in 2019, when they suffered a comprehensive 3-0 series defeat against a dominant Indian side.

Shubman Gill Leads New-Look Indian Squad

The Indian Test contingent, captained by Shubman Gill, strikes a balance between youth and seasoned campaigners. Promising youngsters such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, Sai Sudharsan, and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy have been named alongside experienced stars.

India's core lineup also features established performers including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar, while the pace attack is spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj as India look to defend their formidable home record.

Proteas Rely on Balanced Lineup Under Temba Bavuma

South Africa's squad, led by WTC-winning captain Temba Bavuma, boasts an impressive mix of pace, spin, and batting depth. Key figures in the Proteas setup include Aiden Markram, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Marco Jansen, Simon Harmer, and Kyle Verreynne.

The visiting side also features exciting young and dynamic players such as Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs, Tony de Zorzi, and Wiaan Mulder. With South Africa aiming to build on their international success and India intent on asserting home dominance, the series is poised to deliver intense battles across all three formats.
