DDCA labels Delhi Premier League corruption allegations 'unverified', writes to authorities for probe

The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has responded to recent media reports alleging corruption in the Delhi Premier League (DPL), describing the claims as "unverified" while confirming that it has alerted competent authorities to examine the matter.

DDCA responds to Delhi Premier League corruption allegations

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the cricket governing body urged caution against making preliminary judgements regarding players, individuals, or franchises before formal investigations take place.

“DDCA would like to clarify that the allegations referred to in these reports are unverified and have not been established by any competent authority. The Association believes it would be inappropriate to draw conclusions about any individual, player or franchise based solely on such allegations,” the statement said.

Zero-Tolerance Stance and Formal Escalation

Recognising the gravity of the allegations, the DDCA confirmed it has forwarded the available information to the relevant authorities for an official probe through established channels.

“Given the seriousness of the matter, DDCA has written to the respective authorities and shared the information that has come to its notice, requesting that the matter be examined through the appropriate established processes,” the association added.

Reaffirming its commitment to fair play, the DDCA emphasised a zero-tolerance policy against misconduct: “DDCA maintains a zero-tolerance approach towards any activity that may compromise the integrity of cricket and will extend its full cooperation to any inquiry undertaken by the competent authorities. Any action, if warranted, will be taken strictly in accordance with the findings of the appropriate authorities and the applicable rules and regulations.”

The body further noted: “DDCA believes that it is important to distinguish between allegations and established facts and allow the due process to take its course. The Association remains committed to safeguarding the integrity, credibility and reputation of cricket in Delhi.”

The inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League concluded with South Delhi Super Starz clinching the title after defeating Central Delhi Kings in the final.
