Assam Cricket Association Rewards Guwahati Groundsmen with INR 25 Lakh for IPL Resilience Amid Rain
The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has honored the dedication of its grounds staff at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati by announcing a substantial reward of INR 25 lakh. This recognition comes for their exemplary work in maintaining pitch conditions during three IPL 2026 home games for the Rajasthan Royals, all of which were plagued by frequent rain.

The matches in question were against Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Notably, the game against Mumbai Indians was reduced to an 11-over-a-side affair due to the weather. Despite these challenging conditions, the groundsmen ensured that all fixtures could go ahead, preserving the venue's reputation.
"Working under challenging weather conditions, the curator and groundsmen ensured that the pitches were prepared and maintained to the highest standards," the ACA stated. "Their efforts were central to the smooth conduct of the matches and helped uphold the venue's growing reputation on the national stage."
This reward underscores the vital role played by behind-the-scenes personnel in professional cricket, especially in regions prone to adverse weather like Northeast India.
