Trent Rockets 146/4 (100 balls) beat Sunrisers Leeds 141/4 (100 balls) by 5 runs

Mohammad Amir produced a sensational spell of death bowling to help Trent Rockets secure a thrilling five-run victory over Sunrisers Leeds, maintaining their position at the top of the Men's Hundred points table.

Amir finished with figures of 2 for 20, but it was his ability to hold his nerve in the closing stages that proved decisive. Alongside Matt Henry and Lewis Gregory, the Pakistani paceman conceded only 24 runs off the last 15 balls to deny Sunrisers what had looked like a winnable chase.

Donald and Duckett power Rockets' innings

Electing to bat, Trent Rockets lost Finn Allen early, but Ben Duckett and Aneurin Donald quickly shifted the momentum. Donald was particularly brutal, smashing Matthew Potts for three consecutive boundaries as the duo added 63 runs in just 35 balls.

After Donald departed for a blazing 40 off 19 balls, Duckett took centre stage, upping the ante and hitting Patterson-White for five consecutive boundaries on his way to 64. However, the middle order struggled to maintain the same intensity. Sam Billings and Tim David found it difficult to get the big hits going against tight bowling from Brydon Carse, Abrar Ahmed and Nathan Ellis, as Rockets were restricted to 146 for 4.

Amir turns the tide

In response, Sunrisers Leeds lost Ryan Rickleton for a duck, but Mitchell Marsh and Zak Crawley steadied the chase. Marsh largely focused on rotating the strike while Crawley found the boundary more frequently, crunching three boundaries off Mitchell Santner. However, just as Crawley was finding his rhythm, the spinner cleaned him up for 26.

Harry Brook then cut loose, particularly targeting Lewis Gregory, ensuring the required rate didn't spiral out of control. But Amir returned to the attack and turned the contest on its head, dismissing both set batters in quick succession. It proved to be a decisive spell from which Sunrisers never recovered.

Needing 24 off the last 10 balls, Alsop and Dan Lawrence could only manage 18 as the Rockets' bowlers held firm to seal a narrow but crucial victory.
