India's Afghanistan Test hero Manav Suthar seals County contract with Warwickshire

Manav Suthar Joins Warwickshire for County Championship

Manav Suthar, the young left-arm spinner who made an impressive Test debut against Afghanistan in New Chandigarh, has signed a short-term contract with Warwickshire County Cricket Club. The 23-year-old spinner will be available for the next two rounds of the Rothesay County Championship. Suthar's performance in his debut Test saw him take seven wickets for 62 runs, including six for 33 in the first innings and one for 29 in the second. He also contributed 28 runs with the bat.

Warwickshire Performance Director James Thomas expressed his excitement about Suthar's arrival, saying, “We’re delighted to welcome Manav to the Bears, at a really exciting time for the team. We’ve played some good red-ball cricket already this season, and Manav will bring a new aspect to our bowling attack.” Suthar, who has a strong first-class record with 129 wickets in 29 matches, is expected to gain valuable experience in county cricket before India’s two-Test tour of Sri Lanka in August.

He will be available for Warwickshire's County Championship clash against Yorkshire at Scarborough from June 12-15, followed by their fixture against Somerset at Taunton the following week. Suthar expressed his enthusiasm about joining the team, saying, “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Warwickshire for the next two County Championship games. The team have started the season very well, so I’m hoping that I can play a part in helping them in their push for the title.”
