Tottenham Hotspur have pulled off a major coup by securing the signing of Omar Marmoush from Manchester City on a season-long loan, with an obligation to make the move permanent next summer.

The north London club will pay City a reported £50m, with a further £10m in add-ons, when the deal is completed. Marmoush becomes the second player to swap the Etihad for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this week, following the arrival of Savio.

Impressive City record

The Egyptian forward made 62 appearances for City, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists, while lifting both the FA Cup and EFL Cup during his time in Manchester. Since making his City debut in January, only Erling Haaland (49 goals) has outscored him at the club, and Marmoush also ranked among the Premier League leaders with four goals from outside the box and 37 dribbles completed.

Despite his contributions, Marmoush saw his minutes reduced under Pep Guardiola last season, prompting his move to seek regular first-team football.

A new chapter in north London

"It feels amazing to be here. I'm so excited to get started with the team and I can't wait to meet the fans," Marmoush told the club website. "Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the project was very attractive to me. I've spoken with the head coach, I loved what he had to say, and I'm sure our passion for the game will go very well together."

Marmoush will be tasked with helping Spurs climb the Premier League table after consecutive 17th-place finishes under Roberto De Zerbi. The Italian boss has been handed significant backing this summer in a club-record transfer window, which has already seen Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke and Savio arrive at the club.

With Marmoush now added to that list, Spurs will be hoping the Egyptian's pace, creativity and finishing can spark a dramatic turnaround in their fortunes.
