Pedro Rodríguez has revealed that he once called Xavi Hernández during Xavi’s time as Barcelona manager to ask for a return to the club.

Pedro shared the story at a ceremony held by Barcelona after the 39-year-old announced his retirement from professional football. Xavi was among the club figures attending the event.

“I scored 99 goals with Barça. When Xavi was coach, I called him and told him: ‘Take me back, and I’ll score a penalty even if it’s just to reach 100!’ He can corroborate it.”

The former Barcelona forward presented the request as a lighthearted appeal to reunite with his former teammate. The club’s ceremony honoured Pedro’s service, while his anecdote offered a personal glimpse of their relationship.
