Watson slams Gambhir's 'chopping and changing' as India left 'unsettled' after 250 chased

Watson's blunt critique of Gambhir's selections

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson launched a blunt critique of India head coach Gautam Gambhir on October 10, arguing that relentless tinkering with the playing XI and batting order has robbed the side of consistency across formats despite major trophy success.

Watson questioned Gambhir's revolving-door selections, claiming that constantly shuffling his playing XI and batting order has left the side inconsistent and unsettled. "The thing that you continue to see and the reason India have been [left unsettled]," Watson argued, pointing to the churn as the root cause of the team's erratic shows.

Gambhir renews bat-ball balance plea

Separately, on October 10, Gambhir renewed his call for a better balance between bat and ball after West Indies chased down a target of 250 in the second T20I in Ranchi. India's 249 proved insufficient on a flat surface under heavy dew as the West Indies completed one of the highest chases in the format.

Gambhir said India must learn to defend totals in difficult conditions and backed Mayank Yadav's pace despite the young pacer's costly dropped catch. The coach wants a fairer contest — and answers from India's bowlers.
