Jintimani Kalita Replaces Renuka Singh Thakur in India's ODI Squad for Zimbabwe Series
Kalita Steps In as Renuka Ruled Out
Assam seamer Jintimani Kalita has replaced Renuka Singh Thakur in India's ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Zimbabwe. Renuka has been ruled out of the series entirely, with a BCCI statement explaining the reason for her absence.
"She is still building up the bowling volume required for the 50-over format at the BCCI Centre of Excellence," the board stated.
A Busy But Limited Recent Run for Renuka
The 30-year-old Thakur featured in India's last Women's ODI assignment, against Australia in March. She played twice during the Women's T20 World Cup in June and was also picked for the Women's Test against England at Lord's in July, although she did not feature in that match.
Kalita's Route to the Squad
Kalita earned her maiden India call-up in the T20Is that preceded the ODI series. She has taken one wicket in 13 Women's Premier League games across two seasons for Mumbai Indians.
The seamer played in the white-ball series against Australia A's touring side in September, before which she travelled to England with the 'A' side. She did not feature in India's 3-0 series win over Zimbabwe in the T20Is but has travelled with the team to Baroda for the one-dayers.

India's updated ODI squad reads: Smriti Mandhana (C), Shafali Verma, Pratika Rawal, Harmanpreet Kaur, Harleen Deol, Tejal Hasabnis, Deepti Sharma (VC), Richa Ghosh (WK), Yastika Bhatia (WK), Vaishnavi Sharma, Nandni Sharma, Sree Charani, Kranti Gaud, Sayali Satghare and Jintimani Kalita.
