TCS returns to cricket with new European T20 Premier League tie

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has made a fresh push into cricket at the league level, signing a multi-year partnership with the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) as its Digital Transformation Partner.

What the partnership covers

Under the agreement, TCS will build out the league's digital ecosystem, spanning fan engagement, ticketing, live match experiences and personalised content. The company will also apply data and artificial intelligence across areas such as player development and commercial partnerships, according to the announcement.

A return to familiar ground

The move is a homecoming of sorts for TCS in the cricketing world. The firm first entered the cricket ecosystem back in 2009, when it became the technology partner of the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. In that role, TCS provided IT solutions aimed at improving operations, on-field performance and fan engagement.

Part of a wider sports-tech push

The ETPL tie also fits into TCS's broader expansion into sports technology. In June, the company signed a multi-year partnership with English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur as its Digital Transformation Partner. That engagement covers fan experience, club operations, analytics and the club's wider digital ecosystem.

About the European T20 Premier League

The ETPL is an ICC-sanctioned T20 competition featuring teams from Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands. Its inaugural season is scheduled to begin on August 26, with matches to be staged in the Netherlands and Ireland.
