Delhi Capitals name Sourav Ganguly as head coach

New Delhi: Delhi Capitals on Tuesday announced former India captain Sourav Ganguly as their head coach for the upcoming IPL season.

Ganguly previously served two stints with the franchise, first as a mentor and then as director of cricket. He will take over from Hemang Badani.

Delhi have not won the IPL title since the inaugural edition in 2008.

Coaching support staff

Ganguly is expected to be joined by Yuvraj Singh as batting coach, while Chaminda Vaas and Amit Mishra have been roped in as pace bowling and spin bowling coaches, respectively.

Ganguly made his coaching debut last year at Delhi’s sister franchise Pretoria Capitals in the South African SA20 T20 league.

Conflict of interest query

Ganguly is currently serving as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal. A complaint alleging conflict of interest has been filed by Sanjeev Gupta with the BCCI’s ethics officer.
