Australia announce Test squad for South Africa tour as Cooper Connolly earns shock call-up

Cricket Australia have officially announced their squad for the upcoming Test tour of South Africa, delivering key selection calls that balance continuity with emerging talent.

Connolly Earns Maiden Test Call-Up

The headline inclusion in the touring party is young Western Australian all-rounder Cooper Connolly. The 21-year-old, who has impressed across domestic formats with his composed middle-order batting and left-arm spin, earned a surprise inclusion in the red-ball setup as national selectors look toward the next generation.

Labuschagne Retains His Spot

Veteran batter Marnus Labuschagne has survived recent scrutiny over his form, retaining his position in the top order. Despite facing pressure following lean stretches in recent international outings, the selectors have placed faith in Labuschagne's proven record and durability in testing conditions.

The series against South Africa will serve as a crucial test for Australia's batting lineup on bouncy tracks, with selectors banking on a blend of experienced stalwarts and dynamic newcomers.
