Manchester United Target Alejandro Balde Loan as Defender Left Out of Barcelona Squad
Manchester United are monitoring the situation of Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde and are exploring a potential loan deal before the close of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils are actively in the market for defensive reinforcements on the left side and would prefer to negotiate a season-long loan move that includes an option to purchase the Spain international on a permanent basis. Barcelona are believed to value the 20-year-old defender between €30m and €40m.
Shock Omission Against Elche
Balde's future in Catalonia has been thrown into serious uncertainty after manager Hansi Flick made the surprise decision to omit him entirely from the travelling squad for Barcelona's La Liga season opener against Elche. While the Blaugrana cruised to a dominant 5-0 victory at the Estadio Martínez Valero, Balde was left taken aback by his exclusion.
According to reports from Spain, the left-back has been left questioning his standing within the squad for the first time in his career. Journalist Helena Condis of COPE reported: "For the first time, Balde has doubts about his future. They haven’t defined the role he’ll have if he stays. Yesterday, he was surprised that Flick left him out."

Flick Seeks Clarification as Premier League Clubs Circle
Addressing the decision following the match, Flick explained that Balde needed time to "clear his head" while reassuring that he has not told the defender to leave the club. However, the German coach confirmed that direct talks would take place to establish clarity regarding the player's role moving forward.
Should Balde opt for a fresh start, Premier League interest is growing quickly. Alongside Manchester United, Aston Villa have also been credited with interest in the defender.
Barcelona currently appear prepared for life without Balde if a move materialises. Xavi Espart impressed at left-back during the victory over Elche, while Joao Cancelo's permanent three-year stay in Catalonia provides experienced coverage across both full-back positions.
