Tara Sutaria confirmed opposite Aditya Roy Kapur in Milap Milan Zaveri's 'raw, passionate and violent' musical romance

Tara Sutaria joins Aditya Roy Kapur in Milap Milan Zaveri's upcoming musical romance

The makers of an upcoming musical romance confirmed on Saturday that Tara Sutaria has been officially cast opposite Aditya Roy Kapur, putting an end to weeks of speculation about the pairing. The film is directed by Milap Milan Zaveri and produced by Bhushan Kumar.

Described by the makers as a “raw, passionate and violent love story,” the film will see its title announced soon. The narrative looks at love “in its full intensity and complexity,” set in a world of emotional turmoil and high-stakes conflict, with music playing a central role in the storytelling. Details about the characters played by the two actors have not yet been shared.

A first-time pairing with a familiar director

The project marks Sutaria’s first collaboration with Zaveri since Marjaavaan, while it will be the first time that Aditya and Tara share the screen. The makers say the story examines love in its full intensity and complexity against a backdrop of emotional turmoil and high-stakes conflict.

Earlier this year, the two were rumoured to be dating, but neither made any official statement about it. For now, they appear to be focusing on their respective careers.

Filming and release schedule

Filming is expected to begin later this year, and the film is planned for a theatrical release in 2027.

Where the leads stand in their careers

Tara Sutaria made her acting debut in 2019 with Student Of The Year 2, which also launched Ananya Panday and starred Tiger Shroff in the lead. In the same year, she appeared in Marjaavaan with Riteish Deshmukh and Sidharth Malhotra, playing a mute Muslim woman from Kashmir. Her next releases — Tadap (2021), Heropanti 2 (2022) and Ek Villain Returns (2022) — received heavy criticism and did not do well commercially. Most recently, she was seen as Rebecca in Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups.

Aditya Roy Kapur began his film career in 2009 with London Dreams and became a household name four years later with Aashiqui 2. He has since featured in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Daawat-e-Ishq, Fitoor, Ok Jaanu, Kalank, Malang and Ludo. His latest release was Metro... In Dino in 2025. He has also signed Raj & DK’s Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom, though the shoot is reportedly on hold.
