Alessia Russo named England women's player of the year for second time
Arsenal forward Alessia Russo has been crowned England women's player of the year, the second time the 27-year-old has claimed the fan-voted honour.

Russo edged Chelsea duo Lucy Bronze and Hannah Hampton to the award, which is decided by a public vote. The striker has been a fixture of the 2025-26 campaign, featuring in all 10 matches and scoring five goals for the Lionesses.
Her most recent contribution came last week, when she scored England's third goal in a 3-1 victory over Greece in the first leg of their 2027 World Cup play-off semi-final. England host Greece in the second leg at Leicester's King Power Stadium on Tuesday.
"To receive the award is really special, particularly as it comes directly from the fans. I am so grateful for their support," Russo said. "A big thank you also to my team-mates - it is always about the collective."
Russo, who previously won the prize two seasons ago, has now scored 31 goals in 68 appearances for England. Her individual recognition follows her inclusion on the 30-player Women's Ballon d'Or shortlist on 13 September, where she was joined by England team-mate Alex Greenwood.
