Lewis Hamilton called on Ferrari "to change things" in how it manages the battle between himself and Charles Leclerc following a damaging start to the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

First corner incident

Leclerc and Hamilton started from third and fourth on the grid. The two Ferraris went wheel-to-wheel into the second corner, with Hamilton running wide into the gravel and dropping down the order.

"Charles pushed me off!" Hamilton radioed. He finished sixth and labelled the race "a bit devastating" and "tough to swallow".

Leclerc explains crash

One lap later Leclerc lost control at Parabolica, running off the track and into the barriers on Lap 2. The Monegasque said the car felt "weird" on throttle on the first lap and he had to lift.

"On that second lap, I tried to do the same thing but, I don't know, it just felt a little bit weird, so we'll look into it," Leclerc said.

On the Hamilton battle he added: "With Lewis it was a way too close into Turn 1 and unfortunately in Turn 2... I was quite a lot on the inside curve and tried to make the corner, which I didn't do it tight enough."

Call for procedural change

Hamilton insisted he races cleanly and said the problem is procedural.

"Ultimately, it comes from the top. It trickles down the decisions, and so it starts with Fred. There's only so much you can say... Yesterday I said that we've got to look at just how we communicate, because if we continue to travel the same path, we get the same result. We've got to change things," Hamilton said.
